The EEG

Isa had an EEG on Tuesday, it’s been a while since she had one and I could definitely feel that she’s bigger, stronger, and much more active than before, last time we were there she didn’t mind much the 14 electrodes on her head for 30 minutes, but this time was another story… oh boy… she was quite a mess trying to pull the cables all the time, trying to take off the net over her head, moving all over the place, this 30 minutes felt more like an hour to me, but they did, eventually passed. This time they did something “new” during her EEG, they used a flashing light for her to look at for some time, this was the first time they did that, she was really interested about it at the beginning but then she really didn’t mind much about it.

So now we wait for the results, it’s been more than a month now that Isa has been seizure free and it feels really good. Next Monday we have an appointment at her nursery to talk with the teachers together with her physiotherapists from Habilitering, she’s starting at the nursery on August and there has to be a meeting before with the teachers to explain her situation, that she needs a little bit more attention and help to get around, they can probably also help to give her a little bit of training on whatever she needs while she is in there. I’m really happy that soon she will be around more kids and I think that is gonna be great for her, but at the same time I don’t want to think about being away from her, it is gonna be extra hard the first days, oh well, first time Mom, what can you expect….

She finally has an appointment with the orthopedic next Thursday to get her orthopedic shoes, I really think she needs that extra height now on her left foot to find the balance when she is standing up, sometimes we put a book underneath her left foot so she can relax the weight evenly on her both feet, she seems to get tired standing up when all the weight is on her left foot, you can see her right leg bending a little bit, specially now in the summer when she is just wearing dresses and shorts, if you pay attention you can see that one leg is shorter than the other one, so I think the shoes are gonna help her a lot.

Did I just wrote is summer now?… yes, it is finally summer in Sweden, it is finally hot and we have been trying to enjoy it as much as possible with Isa.

  1. I saw your comment on my blog; thank you so much for your words! I look forward to reading more of your posts. Isa is awesome (and her little smile melts my heart!)! I will be cheering for both of you!

  2. AH yes…EEG’s are torture for the parents trying to keep them entertained and still while they are put on, during and then after! We had one last week…not a positive result so we are going again next week to see if the medication is working. Hope that you get the results you are looking for soon! It’s the waiting that can be the worst!
